Pilot Project Program (PPP)
About

This program is an essential tool within the CCBVP that serves to develop new lines of investigation and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. In fact, one of the goals of this program is to provide initial support for innovative scientific collaborations between Center investigators. To accomplish this, applicants are required to consult with the director of the Pilot Project Program and at least one Research Core director prior to submission. The importance of interdisciplinary collaboration will be discussed in these meetings, and applicants will be required to address collaboration with CCBVP investigators in their proposal. Moreover, one of the elements of the review will focus on collaboration within and between research cores. Given our intent on using the Pilot Project Program to enhance interdisciplinary coordination, we have decided to reserve at least $50,000 each year for inter-core proposals. In addition, we view the Pilot Project Program as an excellent mechanism to enhance the interactions between faculty in the Environmental Health Policy Core and other investigators in the CCBVP. Thus, each year, we will direct at least $25,000 for projects that originate through the Environmental Health Policy Core. Our vision is that the Pilot Project Program will serve as a strong incentive for CCBVP investigators to collaborate and develop novel interdisciplinary research projects that address the scientific theme of the CCBVP.
