Duke Environmental Leadership Program
Campus Information & Directions
Duke University is located in Durham, N.C., halfway between the state’s mountains and its coast. Where Durham was once a tobacco town, it is now one part of the Research Triangle -- along with Raleigh and Chapel Hill -- a center for excellence in medicine, education, research and technology.
The Nicholas School of the Environment is spread across Duke’s main campus, and beyond:
-
Division of Environmental Sciences and Policy, located on Duke's West Campus in the Levine Science Research Center (LSRC), an interdisciplinary, state-of-the-art research facility
-
Division of Earth and Ocean Sciences, occupies newly-renovated laboratories in the Old Chemistry Building on West Campus
-
Duke University Marine Laboratory (also the headquarters for the Marine Science and Conservation Division), situated on Pivers Island on the coast of North Carolina, only 150 yards across the channel from the historic town of Beaufort
- Duke Forest, comprises 7,050 acres of land in Alamance, Durham and Orange counties, and contains a variety of ecosystems, forest cover types, plant species, soils, topography, and past land-use conditions
