Financial Assistance for Fall/Spring Semesters

**Special semester tuition rate: save $2,000 over regular Duke tuition**

Residential Advisor Position:
Fall application deadline: 25 May
Spring application deadline: 5 December
For additional information, contact Lauren.Stulgis@duke.edu; 252-504-7531

The Marine Lab is seeking a Residential Advisor (RA) for the fall/spring semesters. The RA will receive room and board as payment for his/her services. You must be enrolled in the semester to apply.

The RA is expected to live on campus and be available at times when faculty are not present, i.e., primarily nights and weekends. The role of the RA is that of an advisor to the undergraduate students in matters of student life and emergencies. In addition, the RA will organize a Residential Council of students, and will serve on that Council.

To apply please submit (preferably by email) the following by May 25 (for fall) and December 5 (for spring), to Lauren Stulgis (Lauren.Stulgis@duke.edu; 252/504-7531):

  • A statement summarizing your skills and qualifications for the position. Tell us why you think you’d be a good RA.

  • Two non-academic letters of recommendation from persons who have personal knowledge of you (professionals not your peers). Letters should address your interpersonal skills, ability to deal with crises, etc. Academic letters of recommendation submitted for the summer tuition scholarship (if this applies to you) will not be used for the RA position.

An announcement of the successful candidate will be made on June 5 (for fall) and December 15 (for spring).
