The Ship's computer network consists of 8 pcs
all running Microsoft windows 2000 professional.
Each computer has a designated use and a corresponding
name. Please see list below.
CTD
Designated computer for CTD work. Runs Seabird
Seasave-Win 32 and SBEDataProcessing-Win32.
CTD is a Dell Optiplex GX110 P3 700MHz, 128Mb
RAM, dual hard drives, 20 Gb and 40 Gb
ADCP
RD Instruments Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler
data acquisition machine. Runs RDI VmDas, WINADCP,
and other ADCP software. Intel P4 2.4GHz processor,
I Gb RAM, 120 Gb hard drive.
SCS
Runs Scientific Computer System (SCS) underway
data management/storage software. All underway
sensors on ship are logged and displayed with
this pc. This includes, thermosalinograph, gps,
depth, meterological, etc. Intel P4 1.8 GHz,
256 Mb RAM, 120 Gb hard drive, CD-ROM, CD writer.
B2000W
Intended use is as a acquisition and playback
machine for the Bathy 2000Psub-bottom profiler.
Contains Intel P4 2.4 GHz processor, 1 Gb or
RAM, 120 Gb hard drive, CD ROM and CD RW writer.
SERVER
Data storage machine and email administration
computer. Contains Intel P3 500 MHz processor,
128 Mb RAM, 120 Gb hard drive.
GENERALUSE
Located in Main Lab and is available for science
party use. Email station for science party.
Contains Intel P2 400MHz, 64 Mb RAM, dual 5
Gb hard drives.
NOBELTEC
Located on bridge. Acts as navigation computer
running Nobeltec navigation software.
BRIDGE
General use machine located on bridge. Acts
as a SCS client to display underway data to
watch personnel. Also has email capacity.
