Cruise Preparation | Alcohol, narcotics, controlled substances, firearms and knives

The possession or consumption of alcohol, including beer, is not permitted on board ship. Narcotics, except for medicinal use, are prohibited. If medicine containing narcotics had been prescribed for you, notify the Master.

In compliance with the "Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988," Duke University is committed to maintaining a healthy, drug-free work environment. The unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession or use of a controlled substance, as defined in the Act is prohibited on board ship.

Firearms and sheath knives are not permitted except with specific-prior authorization from the Marine Superintendent. If such items are purchased in foreign ports, they must be placed in the custody of the Master until arrival at your port of debarkation.
