Undergraduate Student Programs >
Fall
Fall semester at the Duke Marine Lab highlights fundamental marine science courses that are ideal for natural science,
environmental science, and pre-health students. Fall semester features a dynamic suite of classes as well as Beaufort Signature
Courses over an extended Fall Break.
Spring
Spring semester is geared towards the adventurous student
who wants a true immersion experience. Students choose one class in each of the four blocks; course selections highlight
Beaufort Signature Courses with extensive travel components to
Singapore, Trinidad, Panama, and Hawaii, as well as Beaufort-based
courses with engaging local field trips.
Summer Term I
The first summer term at the Duke Marine Lab is ideal for
all undergraduate majors, particularly pre-health students.
Students have the opportunity to participate in field-intensive
courses, as well as Research Independent Study. Students enroll in one course during summer term I.
The Integrated Marine Conservation Program takes place during Summer Term II. This unique program teaches the principles of conservation and preservation of the coastal and oceanic environment. The focus is on interdisciplinary problem solving. A distinguished faculty from around the country assembles for this concentrated five-week program, along with conservation practitioners from around the world participating as Global Fellows. Students may enroll in one or two courses during summer term II.
