Research Interests:

  • Antarctic cetacean habitat and spatial ecology

Education:

  • B.A. Biology (high honors) Bates College, Lewiston, ME
  • M.S. Marine Biology, UNC at Wilmington

Bio:
My research focuses on using multidisciplinary data sets to undersdtand how environmental variability (both physical and biological) effects cetacean distribution in Antarctica. I am interested in determining the habitat requirements for individual species, and how this relates to their foraging abilities, and the potential effects of climate change and variability on their environment. Closer to home, I am involved in long term health assessment and conservation projects with bottlenose dolphins, and remain active in the marine mammal stranding network as part of the large whale necropsy team.
