218L. Barrier Island Ecology. An integration of barrier island plant and animal ecology within the context of geomorphological change and human disturbance. Experimental evidence supporting the theory of barrier island formation and migration; plant and animal adaptations and their evolution, succession ecology, and conservation and restoration ecology. Strong emphasis in labs on independent use of quantitative field observation and research techniques. Prerequisite: Biology 25L or equivalent; suggested: course in botany or ecology.
