Congratulations on your acceptance to the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences at Duke University! You undoubtedly have a number of questions and concerns as you consider your decision to enroll at Duke University for the Fall 2008 term. Please join us for a special weekend designed to help you get the information you need to make your very important enrollment decision.

Admitted Students Visitation Weekend officially begins on 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 11th with opening remarks from the Assistant Dean for Enrollment Services and other Nicholas School administrators. We have planned informative sessions intended to give you a well-rounded view of the Master of Environmental Management and Master of Forestry professional degree programs and life at Duke. You'll have lunch with the faculty, current students and designated staff to learn more about the Nicholas School. You will also have an opportunity to attend several Academic Program Information sessions and a panel discussion with current students (AGENDA).

The weekend will conclude on Saturday, April 12th with a riveting lecture and Field Day activities. You will enjoy delicious food/beverages and participate in some fun activities such as relay races, egg tossing, bat races and more! It’s a fun filled afternoon that you don’t want to miss. Nicholas School faculty, staff and current students will be in attendance. It’s also an opportunity to get to know each other. The person sitting next to you may very well become a life-long colleague and friend!

To help us plan this Visitation Weekend, please complete and submit the (REGISTRATION FORM).

Should you need a place to stay while in Durham, our current students will “do their very best” to provide you with overnight accommodations and act as your host. Many of them have extra beds, sofas, futons, comfortable floors, and extra blankets. If you prefer to find your own accommodations, we've included a list of area (HOTELS).

We will also “do our best” to arrange to have someone meet you at the airport or train station. Just in case you plan to arrive later in the evening or very early in morning (i.e. before/after 6am/9pm), please plan to take a taxicab to your host’s home or hotel (TAXI). Generally speaking, taxicabs are always available just outside of Terminals A & C at Raleigh Durham International Airport.

If you have any questions and/or concerns about the weekend's events, please call the Office of Enrollment Services at (919) 613-8070. Don't pass up this opportunity to get to know Duke University and the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences. Now is your chance to get answers to all of your questions. This is an event you won't want to miss. Once again, congratulations on your acceptance to the Nicholas School and we look forward to seeing you on April 11th and April 12th!
