Duke is located near the intersection of two major interstate highways, I-40 and I-85. The Raleigh-Durham International Airport, which is served by 12 airlines, is 15 miles--and a twenty-minute drive--southeast of campus. Amtrak passenger service and bus service are available to downtown Durham, which is close to campus.

Airport Transportation: A taxi ride from RDU Airport to campus will cost about $30. If you are interested in other transportation from the airport (rental cars, shuttle services) please visit the RDU International Airport website.

From Chapel Hill

Follow 15-501 from Chapel Hill towards Durham
After passing The Outback Steakhouse and Darryl's on your right, take the 15-501 North Bypass/Duke University exit (you will exit to the right)
Follow for approximately 1-2 miles and exit at the Hwy 751 - Cameron Blvd/Duke University West Campus exit
Turn right at the bottom of the ramp, get into the left lane, and go about one mile to the third stop light
Turn left onto Duke University Road and continue 3/4 of a mile
Turn left on Chapel Drive; proceed to the traffic circle. (There is not a street sign for Chapel Drive. It is the road with large stone columns on either side. If you reach Anderson Street, you have gone too far.)
Turn onto the traffic circle then immediately right onto Campus Drive. The Admissions Office driveway will be the first left.

From Raleigh and Airport traveling west on Interstate 40

Bear right at Exit 279 onto Durham Freeway North (NC 147); continue into Durham
Exit at Swift Avenue (Exit 14); turn left at the top of ramp, toward Duke's West Campus
Pass through one traffic light
Turn right at the four-way stop onto Campus Drive
Travel approximately 3/4 of a mile, crossing Anderson Street
The Admissions Office driveway is on your right as you approach the traffic circle.

From Interstate 85 traveling south

Exit to the left at Exit 174-B onto "15-501 South By-Pass/Duke University/Chapel Hill"
Proceed approximately two miles and exit onto Hwy 751 - Cameron Blvd
Turn left, stay in the left lane and go about one mile to the fourth stop light
Turn left onto Duke University Road and continue 3/4 of a mile

Continue on Interstate 85 north toward Durham
Exit onto Highway 70 East at the sign "To NC 751/Duke University" (Exit 170)
Continue on Highway 70 for approximately 1.3 miles to the intersection of 70 and 751
Turn right onto Highway 751 and go about four and a half miles
Turn left at fifth stop light (Duke University Road) and continue about 3/4 of a mile
Turn left on Chapel Drive; proceed to the traffic circle. (There is not a street sign for Chapel Drive. It is the road with large stone columns on either side. If you reach Anderson Street, you have gone too far.)
Turn onto the traffic circle then immediately right onto Campus Drive. The Admissions Office driveway will be the first left.
